If you can’t see why Palmer’s behavior is rubbing some of the most loyal fans in all of sports the wrong way you are blind? You must be missing something. Let me tell you how I feel.
The same fans that have sat through some of the most horrifying football seasons ever are the same fans that feel betrayed by Carson. Why because this is our city and our team. The REDS and the BENGALS are part of my family tradition. Is Mike Brown frustrating at times? Hell yea but this is my team and I will still be here when this team wins it all. Trust me I love Carson and what he has done for this franchise but he is not bigger than the entire team. People act like he is such an angle and class act. The guy just said I have 80 million dollars I don’t need to play football bla bla bla and that he will never set foot in PBS again! I have taken many trips back home to PBS and cheered my ass off for this man. I know there are season ticket holders that must feel horrible. I always wore one of my four Palmer Jerseys crispy and clean on the west coast during the NFL season. Taking shots nearly ever time I put it on and walk outside. I have been a loyal fan my entire life and I always defended my QB (Palmer) when other fans took their shots. Rooted for him every step of the way on the come back trail like all of my fellow Bengals fans. This is what we all get is return?
I have seen ex-players on twitter and fellow fans playing the whole Palmer must be doing this for the fans point of view. To show the world Mike Brown is a horrible owner right? BULL CRAP! Where was this thought process when the greatest WR to ever wear the stripes we love pulled the same song and dance? I understand Chad was more vocal in the press when he was playing the trade me game but at least we knew where Chad stood. The same rhetoric being spouted by Palmer was basically Chad’s same approach. I can’t win it all here in Cincinnati and I want out. Trade me now! Only worse with the trade me now or I will retire bomb shell. Where were the fans that are now crowning Palmer during the Chad drama? Crickets….
It just does not sit well with me that Palmer and his agent are playing this game now. The CBA is looming large and even if the Bengals are prepared to move Palmer they can’t. You can trade draft pick but you can not trade players during a lock out. This basically means we are screwed if a deal is not reached soon but no Mike Brown is the only scoundrel sitting at the table. Who would trade for a player that would flat out retire rather then lead the men and franchise he has went to war for the last 7 years? Better yet who will give you top value for Palmer when they know the Bengals are backed into a corner? To me this tells me he is giving up on our city and the fans that have supported him. This is not an act of morality or class. This is a selfish act! Period point blank!
Thanks for the memories....
