Time to move on and get hyped!

There was plenty of interesting events to keep us on edge of our seats this offseason. The consistent bashing of Ochocinco by Marvin Lewis has been interesting. Followed by the draft buzz surrounding the QB situation this offseason will be remembered as a frustrating journey into the unknown. After the Bengals finished off a disappointing 4-11 season a majority of the sports world once again slammed the Bengals. Rightfully so due to the great sweep of the AFC North the previous year the stage was set for our Bengals to become a power house team. The few acquisitions in free agency that landed TO and Adam Jones was exciting. Plus the offensive driven draft that loaded Carson's gun with plenty of ammunition. The Zimmer lead Z-Fence was coming off a great year. I thought it was going to be a glorious season.

I know now the extra weapons were not enough and Palmer's gun missed his target more often than a trigger happy gangbanger. The Bengals abandoned the running game that caused them to play their defense for long stretches leaving them gassed. Not the ferocious group that finished 4th in the NFL. Like I mentioned before there is no doubt last year was a disappointment. Now I find myself asking are things really that bad?

We are Cincinnati Bengals Football fans! No need to lay around all day trolling the web crying about ownership. Our fans should be the most battle tested fan base in the entire NFL. The trade me now or I will retire demands made by the face of our franchise was enough to crush some of our comrades. Not this guy! The long awaited change at the offensive coordinator position that sent Bratkowski packing while welcoming the fresh faced Jay Gruden. This was no doubt a huge bright spot in an otherwise depressing offseason. With the rollercoaster of emotions caused by all of the CBA drama. I can understand why some fans have checked out until the labor issues are resolved. I must confess the lockout has not affected my excitement heading into this year’s draft. Our Bengals draft 4th overall in what I think this is a very deep and talented draft. The Bengals should be able to grab difference makers in the first three rounds. The need for a new QB is evident along with the Benson and Jonathan Joseph free agent woes this team needs to hit a homerun in the war room.

Looking at the current roster the Bengals are not far away from contending again. Young players like Gresham, Dunlap, Atkins and Shipley from last years draft class have made an instant impact. The 2009 draft class that could produce 5 starters next season with A.Smith, Maualuga, Huber, Scott and M.Johnson has some catching up to do but is still a promising group of players.

The sky is the limit for this hungry young core of talented players. The possibility of adding a play maker like AJ Green, Von Miller or Patrick Peterson to this team would be wonderful. The fear of taking a "FRANCHISE" QB with the 4th overall pick is keeping me up a night. I would love to see the Bengals take AJ Green and trade back into the 1st if needed to grab Dalton. Who knows with such a deep crop of prospects at the position we might find our guy by staying put in round 2? The draft is 24 hours away and I can not wait to what new faces we get to welcome in the jungle.

WHO DEY and for the doubters SCREW DEY!
