NEW BREED - OLD HISTORY

With the sudden emergence of the Bengals this season with such a young core of players. I wonder why this franchise does not work harder to improve their brands image. We have had great players like Ken Riley, Anthony Munoz, Bob Trumpy, Kenny Anderson, Isaac Curtis, Boomer and Lemar Parrish. Makes me wonder why this franchise does not try harder to embrace its history. Why do we not have a ring of honor type of display at PBS? Why not try to get the super bowl teams together for some half time love. Give away a team poster to fans. Invite the former greats back to retire or hang their banners. The future generations need to know about these great Bengals. I am sure allot of fans who will be at PBS this weekend do not know who Lemar Parrish is or what he accomplished in stripes. Take some pride in the few bright spots in our teams history. Remind some of the people what is possible. Let the young guys see that this team has done great things in its history. Despite the impression most of NFL fans have about our team. We have a rich history and former players that deserve some recognition.

I know how fired up the Jungle is going to be this Sunday for the huge Steeler game. Could you imagine how fired up they would be if the '88 team or better yet this is the 30 year aniversary of the 81 team. Why not invite them to be honored at halftime? All I am saying is now is a great time to remind the NFL fans and fans in the city what this team has done and how bright the future is in cincy with this young talented Bengals team.

Here is a unreal forgotten BENGALS season that needs to be remembered. Coy Bacon led the NFL with what was considered a record 26 quarterback sacks in 1976 and was the team’s Most Valuable Player. The NFL later downgraded the total down to 21.5 but this remained the NFL record for sacks in a single season until being broken by the New York Jets Mark Gastineau in 1984.
