Vontaze Burfict is coming off his best game as a NFL linebacker. The hungry
young lion led the Bengals with 8 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss, 1 pass defended,
and a QB hit in the teams road win in Jacksonville.
It seems like nearly every tackle made against the Jaguars I would find Burfict
in the pile. He has a nose for the ball and delivers punishment when he gets
there.
I know he gave up a touchdown to Marcedes Lewis and Blaine Gabbert but the coverage was solid. If he could have got his head around the pass may have been intercepted. Vontaze will have to get better and I think he knows that. I understand this was one game but it is a solid game for him to build on moving forward.
I give a ton of credit to this young man and the Bengals coaching staff. The media was all over Vontaze like a bunch of sharks during the pre-draft hype. He is to slow, a knuckle head and was benched at ASU. Ignoring the noise and getting to work is what has been working for Vontaze. I look forward to watching 55 grow as a player and man. He is making a name for himself and earning a shot at locking down a starting position.
Another undrafted college free agent contributing to this football club. From a fan’s prospective it just doesn’t get better than having guys like Vontaze Burfict to cheer for on game days!
