NFL cap is set 120.6 million - Let the games begin

I understand the history of this team I am a life long fan. I am tired of looking backwards and I am ready to look ahead. Time to enjoy this young talented team and not be so inclined to live in disappointments of the past. Championship teams are built thought the draft in the NFL. Usually teams get props for performing at a high level with a low payroll. If the BENGALS war room can execute like they have the past 3 years during the upcoming draft the future gets even brighter.

I expect another productive free agency period like last season. The free agents brought in before last year made it possible for this team to make the run at the playoffs. I understand that fans want to see the BENGALS make a huge splash tomorrow. I say not so fast. Look at the Redskins who seem to make cannon ball style splashes in free agency but without the wins or glory. Look at teams like New England and Philly who have been active signing big name talent with little results on the field to show for it.

There has been a noticeable shift on how this team handles its business. As a fan base we do not know for sure what has changed. We have seen the benefit of drafting team guys who will buy in and who work hard daily. The coaching staff has been improved over the years and this has helped mold the young talent into a promising bunch. The additions of the mid level FA players like Howard, Lawson, Clements and Donald Lee all became highly productive in this system. I can feel a fire storm coming from the fan base if Nicks, Mario Williams or insert another hot FA player are not playing in stripes the team is doomed.

I think it is time to sit back and trust the decisions being made by the front office. With that being said I do expect them to bring in some players who can and will contribute next season. They might not be the big names people want but time will tell. This team has a list of issues that will need to be handled during the off season. They can not fill all the needs via the draft.
